Ultra-Comfortable harness for rope access: International Version
The ASTRO harness is designed for rope access technicians. Its design is specific to progression and rope ascent. The 3D foam padding and semi-rigid waistbelt and leg loop construction provide comfort throughout the workday. The gated ventral attachment point allows the user to efficiently install the necessary equipment for progression. The integrated CROLL L rope clamp improves efficiency for rope ascent. The waistbelt features metal side attachment points, equipment loops, and tool-holder slots, allowing the user to organise and carry all the necessary equipment for a day of work. DOUBLEBACK self-locking buckles and FAST opening buckles make donning and adjusting the harness simple and convenient, even while wearing gloves.
The Petzl ASTRO International Version is built around the same comfort-focused construction as its European counterpart: widely spaced shoulder straps minimise neck chafing, sliding straps allow a full range of movement, and all contact zones are lined with breathable 3D foam padding to reduce heat build-up during long suspended shifts. Replaceable elastic leg loop bands maintain a consistent fit whether walking or working on rope, while foldable metal side attachment points tuck away cleanly to prevent snagging when not in use.
The ventral attachment point is compatible with the PROGRESS ADJUST or JANE lanyard and PODIUM or LITEPOD work seat directly without requiring an additional connector. DOUBLEBACK self-locking buckles on the waistbelt and FAST opening buckles on the leg loops allow fast, reliable adjustment that holds throughout the day. Lanyard connector parking for fall-arrest lanyards comes pre-installed on the shoulders as standard, keeping connectors within reach. An adjustable Velcro strap on the shoulder also secures an ASAP'SORBER energy absorber when needed.
The ASTRO International Version offers the same equipment organisation as the European model: seven pre-shaped gear loops, two CARITOOL tool-holder slots with INTERFAST connection system, and two TOOLBAG pouch loops across the waistbelt.
A key distinction of the international version is the built-in fall indicator: a red marker appears on the dorsal attachment point after a fall, signalling the harness should be retired from service.
Its certification covers a broad range of global standards: ANSI Z359.11, ANSI 459.1, NFPA 2500 class III, CSA Z259.10, CE EN 361, CE EN 358, CE EN 813, CE EN 12841 type B, compliant with the Japanese standard for fall protection, GB 6095, XF 494
Attachments:
- Ventral attachment point: Attachment for a descender, a progression or positioning lanyard in single mode, or a work seat
- Lateral attachment points: Attachment for a positioning lanyard for use in double mode
- Sternal attachment point: Attachment for a fall-arrest system
- Dorsal attachment point: Attachment for a fall-arrest system
- Rear attachment point on the waistbelt: Attachment for a restraint lanyard
