Beal - Air Step
The Beal Air Step is an adjustable footloop designed to
improve efficiency when ascending a fixed rope with a handled ascender or rope
clamp. Its ON/OFF adjustment system holds the foot securely inside the loop
during ascent, then releases it when greater freedom of movement is needed. A
large aluminium buckle makes adjustment straightforward, including when wearing
gloves.
A rigid reinforcement keeps the step open for easier foot
placement, while additional webbing protects the loop against abrasion. The 72
to 120 cm adjustment range suits different users and ascending setups, and the
low 75 g weight keeps it compact on a harness or inside a caving bag. As a
single-step footloop, it is best suited to efficient rope ascent rather than
prolonged periods of standing.
