The Petzl Rollclip is a rated connector with integrated pulley wheel, rated for light work.
There are two gate options, the triple action is rated EN362 but the snap gate version is going to be the most useful version for rope access technicians. This was designed to assist when ascending with descenders.
Useful for secure redirections and reducing friction on working lines, the EN362 triple-action gate is orientated so the gate is easily opened when loading a tensioned rope onto the pulley. Maximum working load is 2 x 2 = 4kN, running with 85% efficiency suitable for the light load situations they'll be used in.
However the more useful gate option is the snap gate option which has been designed to be used with the Petzl Ascension and a descender, redirecting the dead end of the system.
Redirecting the rope this way gives significant advantage when ascending, making it far more efficient than the traditional ascender/descender method. As such when ascending short distances, interspersed with regular descending this method may well be preferable.
